VASTA launched a new program this fall: the VASTA Instrument Donation Program (IDP) fully supported by the Mercury String Shop of Richmond, VA. Brooks Bozman, owner and general manager of Mercury String Shop, has agreed to support the IDP, benefiting Virginia students in financial need.The donation program will be rotated over four years, with one instrument per year (violin, viola, cello, and bass) to be donated in succession. Each year's donation will be a complete outfit -- instrument, bow and case.
This year's instrument award winners are pictured below. The IDP Committee, chaired by Deanna Kringel, selected this year's recipients of a violin outfit donated to VASTA by the Mercury String Shop and an additional instrument that was donated by Ms. Sharon McDonald. The two violins were awarded at the VASTA Annual Membership Meeting at the VMEA Conference in Norfolk on November 15, 2007.
