National ASTA Conference Mini-Grant
VASTA is proud to offer a $500 Mini-Grant to help members attend the National ASTA Conference each year. This grant is available to first-time national ASTA conference attendees who are current VASTA members, actively teaching strings in Virginia (or enrolled as a Music Education Major in a Virginia College or University, intending to teach strings), and committed to attending the conference. The $500 award may be used for registration, travel, lodging, or other expenses. Applications are due December 1st, with announcements made by January 15th. See application for more details.
Conference Grant Application
Special Project Grant
Special Projects are learning opportunities for either string students or string teachers in the state of Virginia that are organized by either VASTA individual or institutional members. Project support may be requested for up to $250 to help offset incurred expenses. Application here. We welcome Special Project Support Applications with two cycles of funding per year:
- ​October 1 deadline for projects that are taking place between January and June of the following year.
- February 1 is the application deadline for projects that are taking place between July and December.
New for 2024: no institution can be awarded the Special Projects grant more than two consecutive years.
