Orion Burke,
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Chair

Orion Burke  is a 2013 graduate from Hampton University. He graduated cum laude with a degree in music education and emphasis in bass performance before receiving his Masters in Teaching from Hampton University in 2014. He is an orchestra director, private instructor, and professional musician.

Mr. Burke’s music career started at the young age of eight when he began playing the bass guitar at his church. Since this time, he has expanded his musicianship to ten different instruments. Some of these instruments include the bass guitar, double bass, piano, and drums. Musically, he has performed and toured in multiple groups that encompassed various different genres such as classical, jazz, rock, gospel, and pop. Throughout his career, he has had the privilege of performing in many world-famous venues including Carnegie Hall, Central Park, the Ferguson Center for the Arts, Disney World, the Norva, and the Kennedy Center. Additionally, he has performed in pit orchestras for popular musical theater productions such as The Wiz, Hairspray, Annie, and many more.

Currently, Mr. Burke serves as the orchestra director at Crestwood Middle School in Chesapeake, assistant director the Grassfield High School Orchestras, and the keyboardist at Eternal Life Worship Center. In his spare time, Mr. Burke enjoys coaching the Crestwood Girls’ Field Hockey Team and spending time with his family.
